Breaking up is hard to do... Let us help take the strain
The breakup of a relationship is generally a difficult time for the adults (and any children) involved. Your lawyers should guide you through the process and help you to make the decisions that will affect the rest of your life. That role requires experience and expertise. At Chivers Walsh Smith, we have both. The firm was established in 1991, to deal with legal issues affecting individuals. We have a strong reputation as family law specialists. All members of the family law team each have at least 25 years' experience. The partners in the team are members of specialist panels; Resolution's (formerly Solicitors Family Law Association's) Panel of Accredited Specialists or The Law Society’s Children Panel.
You will have a lot to think about and decide. If you have children, their interests will come first. You will need to make decisions about where it would be best for them to live and how contact will work. Whether or not you have children, there are likely to be decisions about family finances that will need careful thought. We will give you expert advice, based on our training and experience. Our expertise is recognised by the specialist panels of which the partners are members, referred to above. That advice will be supported by a range of over 30 information leaflets, copies of which we will provide you with as appropriate. You will then have the advice and information you need to make these crucial decisions.
Our approach
All of the lawyers in the firm are members of Resolution. This is a national organisation of specialist family lawyers committed to dealing with matters in a non-confrontational, constructive fashion. We will avoid the use of inflammatory language and retain professional objectivity and respect for everyone involved. This approach will complement our dealing with the issues arising from the breakdown of your relationship in a manner that is measured and fair to you.
